It’s like Uber learned how to long-distance carpool.

Two University of Delaware grads and Dover natives, Pierce Demarreau and Jon Corrin, decided to extend the ridesharing industry’s reach by creating an app for long-distance ridesharing. Sister site Technical.ly Philly wrote a great overview of Atlas, which is currently based out of Center City Philadelphia. Now the founders are coming back to the First State on Oct. 17 to launch a campus ambassador program at UD.

Why now? Well, Corrin explained it was the perfect time for students to learn about the service. “So students can use the platform to share rides home during Thanksgiving break,” he said.

The program is set up like an internship program and will pick one student a semester, giving the opportunity to learn about brand promotion during their time as undergraduates.

What is an ideal campus ambassador for Atlas? Well, the cofounders say they look for students that are active in the entrepreneurship community and hope to one day run their own startups.

Horn Program student Trevor Nix has been named as this school year’s ambassador. The program will recruit new ambassadors on a semesterly basis.

Curious what the app looks like? You can download it here.
